About the role#
The Community Event & Outreach Coordinator Intern supports the Community Outreach Manager by assisting with event staffing, workshop facilitation, and outreach activities. You will represent the museum at fairs, school events, library programs, and special community initiatives while gaining professional experience in informal education settings.
What you'll do#
- Assist with staffing tables and booths at museum and community events.
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on science workshops for visitors of all ages.
- Help schedule and coordinate events, workshops, and outreach programs.
- Represent the museum at community partner events and local schools.
- Support logistics for special events and outreach activations.
- Attend trainings to become familiar with programs, promotional materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Engage guests in a friendly, professional, and informative manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college with eligibility for college credit.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiasm for science education and community engagement.
- Ability to interact comfortably with visitors of all ages.
- A reliable, punctual, and flexible schedule that includes availability on weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Experience with public speaking, teaching, leadership, or event facilitation is a plus.

- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship for college credit.
