DigiPen Institute of Technology is seeking a Student Teaching Assistant for the Summer 2026 term for ART-1220: Color & Light II. This role supports the instructor in creating an engaging classroom environment and providing academic support to students.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate classroom discussions, group activities, and critiques under instructor supervision.
- Evaluate weekly in-class student submissions.
- Hold 3-4 hours of office hours per week to assist students with homework.
- Manage classroom technology to ensure proper function during lectures.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of classroom furniture and lighting.
- Prepare physical materials, including making color copies of handouts for weekly classes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
- Successful completion of ART-1100 and/or ART-1220 with a grade of B or better.
- Strong knowledge of color theory, painting, and color mixing with gouache.
- Enthusiasm for working with color, gouache, and freshman students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a tutor, mentor, or teaching assistant is preferred but not required.
- Digital painting experience is considered a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 11 – August 6, 2026).
- Hours: 5-7 hours per week.
- Compensation: $17.13 – $18.25 per hour, based on previous terms worked at DigiPen.
- Academic Requirements: Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Note that academic waivers may be available for candidates who do not meet all requirements.
- Employment Restrictions: Student workers must reside in Washington State. Work is not permitted during scheduled class times.
