The Student Research Assistant for Technology & Curriculum Development supports faculty in the design, testing, and refinement of instructional materials and technical workflows. This position focuses on infrastructure development for game audio, interactive audio, and music production. It is designed for students interested in educational development, pipeline optimization, and emerging audio technologies.
What you'll do#
- Assist faculty in developing and updating curriculum materials for game audio, interactive audio, and music production.
- Build, test, and document technical workflows using Wwise, Unreal Engine, and Reaper.
- Create project templates, demonstration assets, and example projects for faculty use.
- Support the integration of audio middleware into game engine environments.
- Maintain organized audio asset libraries and naming conventions.
- Assist with the implementation and testing of virtual instrument workflows, including EastWest Composer Cloud+.
- Contribute to written tutorials, best-practice guides, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues within project files and lab environments.
- Support recording sessions and studio-based production tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at DigiPen Institute of Technology in Sound Design, Game Audio, Music Production, or a related field.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in Audiokinetic Wwise, Unreal Engine, Reaper, and virtual instrument libraries.
- Foundational knowledge of recording engineering principles, including signal flow, gain staging, microphone basics, and session setup.
- Strong understanding of interactive audio concepts and middleware workflows.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to document technical processes clearly and work independently.
- Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Must have passed MUS-251/251L and MUS-242 with a grade of B or better (waivers available for qualifying candidates).
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Term: Summer 2026 (April 27 – August 28, 2026).
- Work Modality: On-site (campus labs and recording studios).
- Hours: 15-20 hours per week.
- Pay: $17.13 - $18.25 per hour, depending on prior terms worked at DigiPen.
- Note: Student workers must reside within the State of Washington. Students are not permitted to work during scheduled class times.
