The Student Research Assistant for Technology & Curriculum Development provides support to faculty in the design, testing, documentation, and refinement of instructional materials and technical workflows. This position focuses on behind-the-scenes development to advance curriculum infrastructure and production resources. This is a paid, part-time summer role for students interested in educational development, pipeline optimization, and design methodologies.
What you'll do#
- Develop and update curriculum materials for level design, encounter design, and design documentation.
- Build, test, and document technical workflows within Unreal Engine.
- Create example projects, templates, and demonstration assets for faculty and student use.
- Develop and maintain Unreal blueprints and naming conventions.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in project files and lab environments.
- Support audio middleware integration and studio-based production tasks.
- Contribute to written documentation, tutorials, and best-practice guides.
- Assist with QA and validation of curriculum exercises and technical pipelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the BAGD program specializing in Level Design, with successful completion of DES-340.
- Technical proficiency in Unreal Engine, UEFN, modeling tools, and blueprints.
- Ability to create clear instructional documentation and videos.
- Strong understanding of level design concepts, pipelines, and implementation methodologies.
- Experience implementing sequences, lighting, and audio in game engines.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate technical processes clearly.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington, United States.
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 11 – July 31, 2026).
- Work Modality: On-site (campus labs and recording studios).
- Hours: 15-20 hours per week.
- Eligibility: Must be a current, matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology and reside within the State of Washington.
