About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current DigiPen Institute of Technology students who have an accepted Federal Work Study (FWS) award. The Library Assistant supports the daily operations of the library, ensuring students have access to necessary information and equipment. This role requires reliability, as assistants are responsible for opening and closing the library and maintaining an orderly environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with information and equipment needs.
- Manage item circulation, including checking materials in and out.
- Open or close the library facility.
- Support library operations such as acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loans, and test proctoring.
- Handle cash and credit card payments.
- Maintain library space and equipment, including cleaning and organization.
- Explain library and Makerspace policies and rules of conduct to patrons.
- Collect library usage data and participate in special projects.
What you'll need#
- A sincere desire to help others.
- Strong attention to detail to manage complex procedures for equipment handling.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Interest in working with Makers and utilizing Makerspace equipment.
- Good Academic Standing (not on Academic Warning).
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs, stooping, and kneeling.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 11 – July 31, 2026).
- Schedule: Minimum 8 hours per week; evening and weekend shifts may be required.
- Eligibility: Must be a matriculated student with an accepted Federal Work Study award and reside within the State of Washington.
