Open World is seeking full-time, temporary Event and Summer Instructors to lead workshops for K-12 students. You will work alongside a co-teacher to facilitate interactive, hands-on learning in fields such as computer science, game design, art and animation, robotics, and music and sound design. The role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for all students.
What you'll do#
- Lead one- to two-week workshops for K-12 students in collaboration with a co-teacher.
- Engage students through interactive, hands-on learning activities.
- Maintain a safe, productive, and caring environment.
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and team members.
- Assist in the setup, breakdown, and preparation of workshop activities.
- Adapt to the changing needs of students and provide necessary support.
- Answer questions from students and parents regarding the program.
What you'll need#
- Must be a currently matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
- Must have completed high school.
- Knowledge in computer science, art and animation, game design, robotics, music and sound design, or other relevant experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-teachers and team members.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and connect with children and teens.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Must pass a criminal background check and a 5-panel (non-THC) drug screen.
Location & details#
- Work Modality: On-site in Washington state. Remote work outside of Washington is not permitted.
- Term: Summer 2026 (June 8 – August 21, 2026).
- Hours: 30–40 hours per week. Schedules vary by location and responsibility, typically falling between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Locations: Various sites including Redmond, Bothell, Sammamish, Bellevue, Medina, Seattle, and Shoreline.
- Compensation: Starting rate of $20 per hour; returning staff with prior K-12 experience at DigiPen may earn up to $30 per hour.
