About the role#
Dewberry is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our Transportation Group to work on roadway design projects. This is a full-time, paid internship that provides hands-on project experience and professional development workshops. A housing stipend may be available for eligible candidates.
What you'll do#
- Design horizontal and vertical alignments.
- Create drainage systems and stormwater management plans.
- Develop erosion and sediment control designs.
- Prepare maintenance and protection of traffic schemes.
- Assist in the preparation of contract plans.
- Participate in networking events, professional development workshops, and a summer-long group project.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience with CADD software, specifically MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous transportation-focused internship experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Locations: Fairfax, Richmond, Roanoke, or Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.75 to $29.75 per hour, depending on skills and location.
