Fall 2026 Political Internship

About the role#

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is offering a full-time Political Internship for the Fall 2026 term. This role provides practical experience in political strategy, campaign support, and administrative operations. Interns will report to the Political Assistant and work across various departments, including Communications, Research, Finance, and Digital. This is a paid position with a stipend of $4,000.

What you'll do#

• Support the Political team with day-to-day tasks such as spreadsheet management, drafting memos, and creating presentations.
• Assist with data collection, including pulling media statistics, generating traffic reports, and tracking candidate and race information.
• Manage resume outreach and maintain Google Drive folders for various campaigns.
• Attend briefings and information sessions regarding work in the democratic field and prepare related summaries.
• Assist staff with special projects and administrative assignments as needed.

What you'll need#

• A strong commitment to the principles of the Democratic Party.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent punctuality, attendance, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse team and ask questions to ensure tasks are completed to expectations.
• Academic background in Political Science, International Relations, Communications, or Public Health is preferred.

Location & details#

• The internship is remote, with an option for interns located in Washington, DC to use the office on a limited, hybrid basis.
• Availability for a minimum of 18 hours per week is preferred.
