Fall 2026 Digital Internship

About the role#

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is seeking interns for the Fall 2026 term to support the Digital Department. This position offers practical experience in political campaign operations, including candidate research, content creation, and digital strategy. Interns will work across Digital, Political, Communications, and Administrative teams to assist in promoting Democratic governors and candidates. This is a paid position with a $4,000 stipend.

What you'll do#

• Research digital content, including photos and videos of Democratic governors.
• Track and monitor candidate announcements for gubernatorial races nationwide.
• Draft and produce social media and fundraising content for publication.
• Compile and write newsletters and analytic reports.
• Maintain social and fundraising calendars, including tracking key anniversaries and upcoming events.
• Stay current on digital fundraising and social media trends, including flagging relevant topics and memes.
• Assist with administrative tasks and special projects as assigned by staff.
• Attend Digital team meetings and maintain availability for evening rapid response moments as needed.

What you'll need#

• Strong interest in current events, politics, and national or state-level campaigns.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms, specifically Instagram and Twitter.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent punctuality, attendance, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
• Pursuing studies in fields such as Political Science, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Business Administration.

Location & details#

• Location: Washington, DC.
• Modality: Hybrid (with limited in-office access for those in the DC area).
• Commitment: Minimum of 18 hours per week preferred for the Fall term.
