Fall 2026 Compliance Internship

About the role#

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is seeking a Compliance intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role provides practical political experience within the Compliance Department, supporting the organization's operations through research, data management, and administrative tasks. Interns will report to the Compliance Director for assignments and feedback.

What you'll do#

• Assist with donor research for compliance requirements, including "Best Efforts Mailings."
• Standardize spreadsheets of donor information.
• Maintain databases and physical filing systems.
• Conduct online donor information research for disclosure reporting.
• Participate in department strategic planning meetings and all-staff meetings.

What you'll need#

• Strong commitment to the principles of the Democratic Party.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
• Excellent punctuality and attendance.
• Consistent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and cooperate with a diverse staff.
• Strong interest in current events and national, state, and local politics.
• Academic background in Political Science, Communications, Public Health, Business Administration, or Journalism.

Location & details#

• Location: Washington, DC.
• Modality: Hybrid, with the option to use the office on a limited basis.
• Commitment: Fall 2026 term; a minimum of 18 hours per week is preferred.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship with a $4,000 stipend. Housing is not provided.
