Fall 2026 Data and Coding Internship

About the role#

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is seeking a Data and Coding Intern for the Fall 2026 term to support the research team. This role focuses on modernizing research methods through programming and data analysis to support Democratic governors and candidates. Interns will report to Research Associates and gain practical political experience within a campaign committee environment.

What you'll do#

• Develop scrapers and basic programming tools to improve department functionality.
• Analyze large datasets to identify fundraising patterns.
• Conduct market research to evaluate and implement new research tools.
• Monitor media and compile news articles regarding governors and gubernatorial candidates.
• Transcribe media appearances for use in campaign communications.
• Assist the research team with special projects and assignments as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in computer science, data analytics, engineering, statistics, mathematics, or political science.
• Intermediate proficiency in Python, R, or a similar scripting language.
• Experience with web scraping packages, specifically Beautiful Soup.
• Interest in natural language processing.
• A strong commitment to the principles of the Democratic Party.
• Professional communication skills and high attention to detail.

Location & details#

• This position is remote, with the option for interns based in Washington, DC to work from the office on a limited basis.
• This is a paid internship with a $4,000 program stipend.
• A minimum commitment of 18 hours per week is preferred.
• The DGA can assist in coordinating with academic institutions for course credit.
