About the role#
Dee Zee, Inc. is hiring a Health & Safety Intern to support workplace safety initiatives and compliance programs. You will work alongside experienced safety professionals to gain hands-on experience with safety training, incident investigations, and documentation. This is a full-time, paid, rolling internship based on-site in Des Moines, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Track safety data and maintain compliance records.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations by handling documentation and follow-up tasks.
- Conduct safety inspections and identify hazards on the plant floor.
- Develop and organize safety-related documentation and training records.
- Assist with employee orientation sessions to communicate health and safety requirements.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at improving the workplace safety culture.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Industrial Technology, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
- An interest in workplace safety, compliance, or manufacturing operations.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that involves exposure to dust, mist, coolant, variable temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
