Summer 2026 Healthcare Intern

About the role#

Deaconess Health System is offering an 8-week paid internship for students and new graduates at their medical center in Marion, Illinois. This program provides professional work experience across various healthcare functions, including technology, analytics, finance, HR, marketing, and operations. Interns will work under the guidance of a direct supervisor and receive mentorship throughout the duration of the program.

What you'll do#

• Assist in conducting research, analyzing data, and writing reports to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Work with a high degree of autonomy to tackle new challenges and develop technical skills.
• Engage in project work across departments such as Technology, Analytics, Finance, HR, Marketing, and Operations.
• Deliver a 30-minute final presentation summarizing your project, data analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an associate's, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program in Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear priorities.
• Ability to work quickly and independently.
• Familiarity with or knowledge of industry technologies such as Excel, Tableau, Epic, ADP, CCNA, or CCNP.
