Student Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) GYN Surgery

About the role#

The Student Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) GYN Surgery position at Deaconess Health System offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an operating room setting. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse or a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will assist in the delivery of patient care and support surgical procedures.

What you'll do#

• Prepare the operating room and surgical suite for procedures.
• Perform scrub duties and assist the circulating nurse and physician.
• Create and maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Provide patient care during intraoperative and OB procedures by assisting the CST.
• Manage equipment and supplies, including performing counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Prepare instruments and supplies for sterilization and assist with room cleanup.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a state-approved Surgical Technologist program.
• Completion of at least two semesters of a clinical course of study.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate patient care.
