About the role#
The Student Surgical Technologist assists with surgical procedures at Memorial Medical Center. You work under the supervision of a registered nurse or a Certified Surgical Technologist to support patient care in the operating room. This role involves preparing the surgical suite and ensuring the environment remains sterile throughout procedures.
What you'll do#
- Prepare the surgical suite and plan for upcoming procedures.
- Create and maintain a sterile field.
- Assist the circulating nurse and physician during patient care.
- Provide necessary equipment and supplies based on specific patient needs.
- Perform counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and help with room cleanup.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a state approved Surgical Technologist program.
- Completion of at least two semesters of a clinical course of study.
- Current Basic Life Support - Provider certification.
