Student Surgical Technologist (CST)

About the role#

The Student Surgical Technologist role provides support within the operating room at Memorial Medical Center. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse and a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will assist in delivering patient care and ensuring the surgical environment is prepared and maintained.

What you'll do#

• Prepare the surgical suite and plan for upcoming procedures.
• Assist the surgical team with scrub duties, including acting as a second scrub or direct assistant to the physician.
• Create and maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.
• Provide necessary equipment and supplies based on specific patient needs.
• Perform counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and supplies according to facility protocols.
• Monitor the surgical environment and participate in room cleanup and instrument sterilization.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a state-approved Surgical Technologist program.
• Completion of at least two semesters of a clinical course of study.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate patient care.
