Summer 2026 Healthcare Intern

About the role#

Deaconess Health System is offering an 8-week paid internship for students and recent graduates at their Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. This program provides professional work experience across healthcare functions, including technology, analytics, finance, human resources, marketing, and operations. Interns will work under the guidance of a direct supervisor to apply business practices and processes in a real-world healthcare setting.

What you'll do#

• Assist in writing reports, conducting research, and analyzing data to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.
• Develop and implement recommendations based on project findings.
• Deliver a 30-minute presentation at the conclusion of the program to review project work, data analysis, and final recommendations.
• Work both independently and within a team environment to tackle new challenges and build professional skills.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program in a technical field, such as Computer Science, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear priorities.
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with or interest in learning technologies such as Excel, Tableau, Epic, ADP, CCNA, or CCNP.
