About the role#
This student position supports the laboratory team at Deaconess Health System. You will work directly with patients and assist with diagnostic services. This role is intended for students in Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Health Administration, or Public Health who want to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing.
- Provide care to patients of all ages, from newborns to geriatric patients.
- Register patients and collect demographic and billing information.
- Perform waived and moderately complex testing under the supervision of a technologist.
- Assist with training new employees and students on laboratory policies.
- Maintain specimen integrity and accurate patient records.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
- Previous experience in phlebotomy, laboratory work, or healthcare is preferred but not required.

- Location: Marion, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: PRN, rolling term.
- Compensation: $17.00 to $25.50 per hour.
