About the role#
David Zwirner is seeking a Research & Exhibitions Intern to join the Research team. This role supports the gallery’s exhibition projects, artist documentation, and library management. This is a paid position for individuals with a strong interest in art research, writing, and curatorial practice.
What you'll do#
- Catalogue and document provenance for gallery inventory, including library and archival research.
- Conduct independent research using catalogues and online resources to compile lists of comparable works.
- Assist the team with research-intensive exhibition projects.
- Research and write brief contextual texts regarding selected artists and artworks.
- Gather checklists for external exhibitions that feature gallery artists.
- Build and update CVs and narrative biographies for artists.
- Support the general management of the gallery reference libraries, including registering new books, scanning texts, and maintaining collections.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in art research, writing, editing, and curatorial practice.
- Knowledge of twentieth-century and contemporary art.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask across a variety of assignments.
- A detail-oriented approach and strong time-management skills.
- Graduate degrees in art history or related fields are preferred, as is direct experience in gallery, museum, or contemporary art research.
- You must be a resident of NY, NJ, or CT to apply.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 10 AM to 6 PM, 3 to 5 days per week.
- Duration: This role runs through December 19, 2026, with a minimum commitment of approximately 3 months.
- Compensation: $17 per hour.
