About the role#
D.R. Horton is seeking a Land Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This program provides hands-on experience and professional development within the homebuilding industry. You will work within the Land department to gain exposure to business operations, project management, and field-based activities. This is a paid, full-time position based on-site in Fort Worth, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations within the office, field locations, or jobsites.
- Assist with department-specific projects, research, reporting, and administrative tasks.
- Learn industry terminology, company policies, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to understand how different areas support the homebuilding process.
- Participate in training programs, meetings, and departmental rotations.
- Explore career paths within the company and its affiliated businesses.
- Conduct all business in a professional, ethical, and respectful manner.
- Work overtime or travel for business needs, including occasional overnight trips, as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university, entering your junior or senior year, or recent graduation.
- Pursuit of a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate, Marketing, Communications, or Operations Management.
- Demonstrated interest in land development, homebuilding, or corporate operations.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute in a professional team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and an ability to learn new software.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Adaptability to varying work environments, including office and field settings.
- Candidates pursuing an advanced degree may also be considered.
