Construction Intern

About the role#

The Construction Intern program offers hands-on experience and professional development within the homebuilding process. You will work within a primary department or functional area to gain exposure to daily operations, office tasks, and field-based activities. The program includes departmental rotations, project work, and training to help you explore career paths at D.R. Horton.

What you'll do#

• Support daily operations in your assigned department, office, or jobsite.
• Assist with projects, research, reporting, and administrative tasks.
• Learn industry terminology, company policies, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to understand business operations.
• Participate in meetings, training programs, and departmental rotations.
• Conduct business in a professional, ethical, and respectful manner.
• Travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips, and work overtime when required.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university, entering your junior or senior year, or recent graduation.
• Degree pursuit in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Operations Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Interest in learning about homebuilding, financial services, land development, or corporate operations.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and ask questions.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to varying work environments.
• Advanced degree candidates are eligible to apply.
