About the role#
The Construction Intern program offers hands-on experience and professional development within the homebuilding process. You will work across various departments, including field locations and jobsites, to understand how D.R. Horton operates. This role provides exposure to our business functions and potential career paths following graduation.
What you'll do#
- Support daily operations within your assigned department, office, or jobsite.
- Assist with projects, research, reporting, and administrative coordination.
- Learn industry terminology, business systems, company policies, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to understand how different areas support homebuilding and the customer experience.
- Participate in training programs, meetings, and departmental rotations.
- Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner.
- Travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips, and work overtime when required.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a four-year college or university as a junior or senior, or a recent graduate.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, Operations Management, or related fields.
- Interest in learning about career opportunities in homebuilding, financial services, or land development.
- Willingness to take initiative, ask questions, and work in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
- Ability to adapt to different work environments, including office and field settings.
- Candidates pursuing an advanced degree are also encouraged to apply.
