Construction Intern

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience and professional development within the homebuilding process. Interns are assigned to a primary department or functional area to gain exposure through project work, administrative support, research, and jobsite observation. This program aims to introduce students to career opportunities within D.R. Horton and its affiliated business functions.

What you'll do#

• Support daily operations in your assigned department, office, or jobsite.
• Assist with projects, reporting, and coordination efforts.
• Learn industry terminology, company policies, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to understand business operations.
• Participate in training programs, meetings, and departmental rotations.
• Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner.
• Travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips, and work overtime when required.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university as a junior or senior, or recent graduation.
• Coursework in Business Administration, Finance, Civil Engineering, Real Estate, Marketing, Communications, or Operations Management.
• Interest in learning about homebuilding, financial services, land development, or corporate operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new software.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to adapt to varying work environments.
• Physical ability to perform tasks as required by the assignment.
