As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice in preparation for a Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care, creating personalized moments, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication changes where allowed by regulation.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members and assist with inventory activities such as cycle counts and returns.
- Perform additional health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by required training.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe per state guidelines.
- Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods, including the ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to prescription dispensing.
