Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy operations, ensuring patient safety, and gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
• Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Provide empathetic and genuine care to patients, including addressing medical questions and offering immunizations when appropriate under pharmacist supervision.
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in activities with district leadership.
• Contribute to a positive team dynamic by embracing a growth mindset, being receptive to feedback, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
• Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.

What you'll need#

• Must be accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
• Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to use mathematical reasoning for prescription fulfillment.
• Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
