Pharmacy Intern - Grad

About the role#

As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice in preparation for a Pharmacist role. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation, focusing on store, district, and regional operations. This role involves deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, drug utilization review, and pharmacy professional standards under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic service at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
• Offer counseling, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
• Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
• Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details as permitted by regulation.
• Complete inventory activities, such as cycle counts and processing medication deliveries.

What you'll need#

• PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program.
• Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure.
• Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure per state guidelines.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
• Strong communication skills, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
