Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in pharmacy operations. This role involves gaining hands-on experience across store, district, and regional operations to support the delivery of patient care.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on KLEs to build pharmacy operations aptitude.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care during interactions.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members while maintaining self-awareness.
• Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training and certification.
• Assist with inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and processing medication deliveries.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it as required.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• Proficiency in confirming prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
• Mathematical skills to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating days' supply and medication quantities.
• Ability to pivot between tasks and communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
