About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist through a comprehensive training roadmap. You will gain exposure to store, district, and regional operations while assisting the pharmacy team in providing safe and accurate care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap including key learning experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide empathetic service to patients, including fielding medical questions and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Support patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon obtaining necessary certifications.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and privacy regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong focus and attention to detail, including the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations for prescriptions.
- Ability to pivot between tasks quickly and handle challenging patient or colleague interactions.
