About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist while you assist the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service to our patients.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations and ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations.
- Provide customer service, including offering immunizations and other services at the register or over the phone.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Coach, train, and mentor pharmacy team members.
- Document patient information and track vaccines.
- Administer vaccines once you have obtained the required certification.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required.
