As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will focus on applying your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap that includes Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and hands-on activities to gain an overview of retail pharmacy operations. This part-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team while developing clinical and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly, including the prompt, safe, and accurate fulfillment of prescriptions.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across workstations, such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Demonstrate empathy and provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as permitted by state regulation.
- Perform inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and company ethical principles.
- Where permissible, support immunization services, including educating patients, monitoring for adverse reactions, and documenting patient information.
- Remain receptive to feedback, embrace a growth mindset, and actively seek opportunities to expand your clinical knowledge.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
- Ability to maintain concentration on tasks over extended periods.
- Proficiency in confirming prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to use math to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility for scheduling and the ability to travel to various store locations within the market as needed.
