Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to build clinical and operational skills. This role involves assisting the pharmacy team to ensure operations run safely and efficiently while gaining experience in store, district, and regional workflows.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs).
• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
• Learn to operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain self-awareness and provide coaching to team members while sharing best practices.
• Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
• Support patient safety by confirming prescription information, label accuracy, and fielding medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Manage inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain focus on tasks over extended periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, including active listening and clear verbal exchange.
• Mathematical proficiency to calculate dosages, day supplies, and medication quantities.
• Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as reaching, stooping, and typing.
