Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school education into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills to prepare for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Follow company standard operating procedures (SOPs) at each workstation to help Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, providing compassionate care, and solving or escalating patient problems.
• Educate patients about the importance of vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and support immunization services where permitted by law.
• Maintain high levels of self-awareness while providing training and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
• Perform inventory activities, such as cycle counts and managing returns-to-stock, as directed by pharmacy leadership.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and helpful approach.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, including active listening.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
