About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver patient care while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams by following company SOPs and workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide compassionate customer service, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Complete inventory tasks such as deliveries and cycle counts.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon obtaining required Technician Immunizer status.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and feedback to team members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and work across multiple locations in the market.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
