As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to prepare for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver on the brand promise while ensuring pharmacy operations run safely and efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including prescription fulfillment at production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off stations.
- Demonstrate empathy and genuine care during customer interactions, including fielding medical questions and providing compassionate service.
- Follow company standard operating procedures to ensure patient safety, accurate recordkeeping, and protection of patient privacy.
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences, to build clinical and operational aptitude.
- Perform inventory tasks such as cycle counts, processing returns-to-stock, and managing medication deliveries.
- Support immunization services by educating patients, reviewing documentation, and, where permitted by state regulation and training, administering vaccines.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as allowed by law.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
