Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and guidance from pharmacy leadership, to gain a thorough understanding of store, district, and regional operations.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Provide caring service to patients, including fielding questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
• Support immunizations by completing required training to obtain Technician Immunizer status, educating patients, and documenting information.
• Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes as allowed by state regulation.
• Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including potential travel to other store locations within the market.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over time.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as reaching, bending, and typing.
