Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This Summer 2026 position is designed to help you gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work on-site in a retail pharmacy setting, gaining exposure to store, district, and regional operations.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) to build aptitude in various operational areas.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, creating personalized moments, and solving patient problems.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles regarding patient safety and privacy.
• Maintain inventory, including putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
• Ability to become immunization certified and a commitment to providing patient immunizations as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and occasionally travel to other store locations within the market.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
