Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations, including store, district, and regional workflows. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap to build clinical and technical aptitude while contributing to a safe, inclusive environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately, safely, and promptly.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Perform basic inventory tasks, such as putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns-to-stock.
• Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by required training.
• Demonstrate empathy and care in all patient interactions, including over the phone and at the register.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating dosages, day’s supply, and medication quantities.
