About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt service for patients.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
- Deliver patient health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions for vaccines.
- Maintain patient privacy and security compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, a valid intern or technician license as required by the state.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
