Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) and time spent with district leadership, to gain a broad overview of pharmacy operations.

What you'll do#

• Support pharmacy teams to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, solving problems, and providing caring service.
• Offer counseling, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding patient safety and privacy.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and medication deliveries.
• Support immunization services, including education, documentation, and administration where permitted by law.

What you'll need#

• Must be accepted into or actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Strong ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
