Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice, preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will follow a structured training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), to gain a comprehensive overview of pharmacy operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your clinical and technical skills.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
• Provide caring service to patients, including offering to counsel, fielding medical questions, and gathering medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Handle telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes or clarifications when permitted by state regulation.
• Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset, mentoring team members, and sharing best practices.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Remain flexible to meet business needs, which may include working across different store locations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to use mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
