About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations and patient care. This role involves working within a team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while maintaining a supportive environment for patients and colleagues.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment and basic inventory tasks like cycle counts and restocking.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations and answering medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Facilitate medication changes and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training and tasks, including patient education, documentation, and vaccine administration where permitted.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and patient privacy requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain a regular schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for pharmacy calculations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and travel to other market locations as needed.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
