About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. You will follow a training roadmap designed to provide a comprehensive overview of pharmacy operations while you prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role involves working as part of a team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols for production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide empathetic patient care, including fielding medical questions and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Coach and mentor other pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
- Manage basic inventory tasks such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver health services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and training.
- Maintain flexibility to travel to different store locations within the market to support business needs.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in using math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating dosages or days of supply.
- Strong active listening and problem-resolution skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between responsibilities, and ensure high accuracy in prescription labeling.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
