Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations, including store, district, and regional workflows. You will work as part of a team to ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and prompt care.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and follow standard procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment at all workstations.
• Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by demonstrating empathy, managing patient problems, and providing information on services like immunizations.
• Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, processing returns, and managing medication deliveries.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including those regarding controlled substance dispensing and patient privacy.
• Embrace a growth mindset by seeking feedback, participating in training, and mentoring team members as your experience increases.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one as required by state regulations.
• Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
• Proficiency in using math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating dosage and supply.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, and the ability to travel to different store locations within the market as needed.
