Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This program is designed to help you develop professional skills and gain an overview of pharmacy operations while supporting the delivery of patient care. You will work through a training roadmap that includes key learning experiences and activities to prepare for future pharmacist responsibilities.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Provide caring service at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone, creating personalized experiences for patients.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across all workstations, including production, pick-up, and drop-off.
• Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and contact them to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes, where allowed by state regulation.
• Deliver patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law and supported by training.
• Complete inventory activities, including putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Regular and predictable attendance, with the ability to work nights and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
