Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This role is designed to help you develop professional skills, gain an overview of pharmacy operations, and prepare for increasing responsibilities within a retail pharmacy environment. You will work as part of a team to ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and compassionate care.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care during interactions.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries and cycle counts, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
• Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, where allowable by law and supported by required training.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it as required.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong mathematical skills to solve problems related to prescription dispensing.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
