About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills in preparation for a future Pharmacist position.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow established pharmacy workflow procedures across all stations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by providing empathetic service and creating personalized moments.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer clinical questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as directed by pharmacy leadership.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company standard operating procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages and supplies.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing or reaching.
