Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern, you will focus on applying your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future Pharmacist role. This program provides hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, including store, district, and regional overviews, while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering safe and accurate patient care.

What you'll do#

• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and providing personalized care.
• Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed by state regulation.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
• Support immunization services by educating patients, reviewing patient information, and—where permissible and trained—administering vaccines.
• Maintain a growth mindset, participate in team mentoring, and remain flexible to work in different store locations within the market as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
