Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

This Pharmacy Intern position offers an opportunity to apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly while developing the skills necessary for a future Pharmacist role.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build professional aptitude.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, genuine care, and assisting with problem resolution.
• Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at various workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• A customer service orientation with a friendly, helpful approach to patient and colleague interactions.
• Ability to perform physical requirements, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and repetitive hand movements.
