About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap to gain experience in pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy tasks and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures to ensure safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service by assisting patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, upon obtaining Technician Immunizer status.
- Remain flexible with scheduling, including nights and weekends, and support business needs across the market.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and ensure label accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Mathematical reasoning skills to solve problems related to prescription dispensing.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like reaching, stooping, and scanning items.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
