Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your academic studies and real-world clinical practice. This program is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations and patient care. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining exposure to store, district, and regional pharmacy workflows.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) to build aptitude in pharmacy operations.
• Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly, including the prompt, safe, and accurate fulfillment of prescriptions.
• Provide empathetic and genuine care to patients, contributing to positive experiences at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
• Communicate directly with prescribers to take telephonic prescriptions or clarify existing orders.
• Perform basic inventory management tasks, such as processing medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, as permitted by law and directed by leadership.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
• Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance, including availability for nights and weekends.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods and complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
