Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice while preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences (KLEs), to gain an overview of pharmacy, store, and district operations. You will support the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and caring service to patients.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring smooth operations and safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Provide caring service to patients, including fielding questions and offering immunizations where permitted.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies regarding pharmacy operations and patient privacy.
• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in ongoing professional development.
• Maintain focus and attention to detail while multitasking to meet patient needs.
• Resolve interactions with patients and colleagues effectively.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy.
• Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Ability to remain mobile and stand for extended periods, as well as lift up to 20 lbs.
